the challenges
The main goal was to optimize time-intensive manual assessment process and find a way to assess students who were scattered across the state of Tamil Nadu and for whom making in-person drives were difficult.
The challenge

Freshworks Software Academy (FWSA) is a social impact (CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative powered by Freshworks India Private Limited for underprivileged students from low-income families who can't afford a conventional college education but have the right motivation, aptitude to learn software skills, & have a strong desire to start their careers in technology.

This is a hybrid (offline and online) skilling program covering two tracks:

  • Life-skills track (English Communication & Personality Development)
  • Tech-skills track (Software Development & Testing)

By training the students in the above tracks, the program aims to mold students into well-rounded professionals ready to take up tech jobs in the IT industry both within Freshworks & other companies willing to provide opportunities for these students.

Before using iMocha, Freshworks conducted manual assessments at their office. However, with the onset of the pandemic and the geographically diverse locations of the students, this was no longer possible and was time-consuming as well.

Freshworks was looking for a remote first assessment solution with the right mix of Aptitude and

English assessments. After evaluating multiple options, Freshworks selected iMocha as their

assessment partner.

Freshworks was impressed with the flexibility of the platform to create bilingual assessments in

English and Tamil. Our AI-enabled proctoring measures ensured 100% integrity of assessments.

Freshworks created FSAT-based on Math, Logical Reasoning, & Basic Communication.

Step by step explanation of the workflow:

  • They did not have a large recruitment team that could reach out to these universities across the USA to participate in career fairs and interact with the students. This hampered their recruitment roadmap.
  • However, more important was the lack of technical resources to evaluate candidates who applied for this role.

Freshworks initiated the drive online and received 955 simultaneous test takers. The assessments were administered seamlessly. Currently, Freshworks is in the process of selecting the top 50 students for the Freshworks Software Academy (FWSA). iMocha’s assessments will also be used to assess the knowledge of the selected students after each module is completed in their training program.
