Harshvardhan Kondhre, a vibrant part of our HR team, is known around iMocha for his ever-smiling face and cheerful “Let’s make it happen” attitude. But a few weeks ago, life tested him in ways no training or manual ever could. And what unfolded was not just a personal crisis — but a story of resilience, presence of mind, and selflessness.
A Simple Gift with Profound Intentions
It all began on a Wednesday morning, over a quiet cup of coffee with his parents. Harshvardhan noticed the toll the last few months had taken on them — emotionally and physically. Moved by gratitude and love, he decided to surprise them with a weekend getaway to their favorite place: Mahabaleshwar.
“I just wanted to do something small, something meaningful,” Harsh recalls. Using a company voucher and adding his own savings, he booked them into a cozy resort. He even kept it a surprise from his father, knowing he'd worry about expenses. That Saturday, they set off happily — unaware of the turn their trip would soon take.
A Call That Changed Everything
It was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. But by afternoon, Harshvardhan received a frantic call from his mother. His father — a heart patient — was struggling to breathe. Panic set in. They were stranded in an isolated area with no clinics nearby, and neither parent was tech-savvy enough to arrange help on their own.
In those moments of helplessness, Harsh didn't just react — he led. Coordinating between cab bookings, ambulance services, and his terrified parents, he made the swift decision to rush to their location. "Something inside told me — just go."
The Strength to Stand Still in a Storm
He reached the hospital just as his parents arrived. Tests initially seemed fine. Relief washed over everyone — briefly. Then came the twist. One test revealed a dangerously elevated marker. His father was at severe risk of a heart attack and needed immediate admission.
What followed was a blur of hospitals, reports, emergency calls to family doctors, and navigating insurance chaos. Harsh's father needed angioplasty urgently — the costs were steep, and the hospital initially declined their insurance.
“It felt like everything was falling apart. The bike I had almost bought — the money spent there would’ve left me stranded now,” Harsh shares. But in that moment, he didn’t panic. He negotiated. Persuaded. Leveraged every contact. Including a surprising connection through a senior colleague’s cousin — a doctor who eventually approved the cashless insurance claim after hearing the whole story.

Lessons That Last a Lifetime
After days of tension and sleepless nights, the surgery was successful. His father is recovering well, and the smile has returned to Harsh’s face — but with new wisdom behind it.
This journey changed him. He postponed his bike purchase. Re-evaluated his spending. Most importantly, he became an advocate for financial preparedness and the value of having personal health insurance beyond what work provides.
“I’m grateful to iMocha — not just for the insurance policy, but for the culture that gives us strength. For the people who check in. For the way we look out for each other.”
The Heart of the Story
Harshvardhan’s experience reminds us that life’s most important tests don’t come with warning signs. But when they do arrive, it’s our courage, clarity, and compassion that define who we are.
He didn’t just take care of his parents — he became their rock. He didn’t just manage a crisis — he grew through it.
This is the spirit of iMocha. Not just colleagues, but people with real stories. People who rise for their families, their teams, and themselves.
Thank you, Harsh, for sharing your journey — and for reminding us what strength looks like.
